Process Definition & Modeling

« Go back

Processes should be designed to fit the current need but capable of scaling to fit future needs without having to scrap entire systems. There are many processes within an organization each with their own information flows and needs for technical support. Examples include:
  • Product development
  • Marketing
  • Accounting and associated controls
  • Departmental operations
  • Application development
  • IT operations
To be effective, processes need to be modeled and communicated in terms of actors’ roles and responsibilities and information flow and transformation over time. This amounts to answering questions around who, what, when, how often, and the gates at each step of processing.
